Calming the Mind

Standing on your head in proper alignment, as Jeany Volk is doing here, does calm the mind as well as strengthening the body.

In one of Jeany’s Yoga classes, you might find one advanced student doing a supported headstand while others are working on shoulderstands,  or half-shoulderstands, or half-shoulderstands-on-a-block-and-using-a-wall. Meanwhile, several beginners might simply be lying on their backs with their legs supported by the wall.

All these poses, and variations of poses, can be calming to the mind.
